Over the past years, Europe has been on the verge of collapse due to the financial crisis, political bureaucracies, unsystematic migration policies, and now, the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. For more than a year, the decision to reopen Europe’s external and internal borders was left to the discretion of each member state, jeopardizing the collective freedom, security, equality, well-being, and solidarity among the European countries.
