In 2015 when producer Todd Hervey learned that the Science Museum of Virginia would be moving and installing a SR-71 Blackbird into their new gallery, he saw an opportunity. The opportunity was to document the move and tell the innovation story of an aircraft that was designed and built in the 1960’s, but remains to this day as the worlds fastest ever and highest flying aircraft. This 2 year project took Todd and his crew on a journey that started in Richmond VA, made a stop at the famous Lockheed Martin Skunk Works in California, and even visited CIA headquarters.
