The Alchemist is about a glass artist, Bill Meek, who breaks ordinary glass panes and from the broken shards, creates stunning sculptures. Meek reluctantly accepts a corporate commission to create an art piece for the corporate boardroom window. Unanticipated difficulties turns a three month project into a two year chore, bringing him to the brink of personal bankruptcy and artistic crisis. He scraps the design and creates his own. The corporation accepts his design. Bill saves the project, finds a new artistic style, and creates a unique and beautiful boardroom window.
