Harriet, a single parent in her late thirties – living in a picture-postcard English town – has raised her son, Josh, alone. When his father – now living in Los Angeles and married to California girl, Joy – tempts Josh to the States to study at UCLA, Harriet finds herself terrified of being alone, but struggling to navigate the duplicitous world of modern dating. Prepared to do almost anything to avoid starting a new chapter of her life – and to hold onto her role as a mother – Harriet sets out to find an American willing to propose, in the hope that she’ll be able to get the ball rolling on a 90 day fiancé visa and remain in the States.
