7 Iconic Action Movies

Action movies, a type of film that exhilarates and gives the audience a boost of adrenaline with an added BPM. Just about every person can get a level of satisfaction from an action movie, me included. Still, there is a fine line between a movie that goes too far and ends up being cheesy to one that doesn’t push the boundaries on the action enough.

Thankfully, there are several iconic action movies for all of us movie fanatics and casual moviegoers to enjoy. Nevertheless, down below will list off what I feel are seven of the best and most iconic action movies with their loglines from IMDB and a small piece regarding them. Keep in mind, these aren’t the only great action movies out there, just a few to be mindful of. Let’s take a look!

1. Predator (1987)

Logline: A team of commandos on a mission in a Central American jungle find themselves hunted by an extraterrestrial warrior.

You can’t make an iconic action movie list without discussing an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, and what better one to begin with than Predator. This film is an invigorating experience, to say the least, and will have you on the edge of your seat while Arnold faces off against the almighty Predator.

2. First Blood (1982)

Logline: A veteran Green Beret is forced by a cruel Sheriff and his deputies to flee into the mountains and wage an escalating one-man war against his pursuers.

Similar to Arnold, Sylvester Stallone is in the same boat with an action movie reputation. Although the Rambo franchise got worst with each sequel, its first, First Blood, is an incredible film detailing how misunderstanding a person can take a turn for the worst.

3. Mad Max (1979)

Logline: In a self-destructing world, a vengeful Australian policeman sets out to stop a violent motorcycle gang.

Non-stop action heads will get a great deal of enjoyment out of Mad Max, a literal non-stop car chase that is unfathomable how it was made over 40 years ago.

4. Hard Boiled (1992)

Logline: A tough-as-nails cop teams up with an undercover agent to shut down a sinister mobster and his crew.

Not enough people in the mainstream light know about the genius of John Woo and Hard Boiled. Although anyone with a medium interest in cinema will know about John Woo, Hard Boiled is a ridiculous yet fantastic action flick everyone needs to see.

5. The Terminator (1984)

Logline: A human soldier is sent from 2029 to 1984 to stop an almost indestructible cyborg killing machine, sent from the same year, which has been programmed to execute a young woman whose unborn son is the key to humanity’s future salvation.

What’s the point of making an action movie list without listing an Arnold movie twice? The Terminator is Arnold’s most popular film, and rightfully so. The story alone should entice you into watching it.

6. John Wick (2014)

Logline: An ex-hit-man comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that killed his dog and took everything from him.

Although newer than most films on this list, many agree that John Wick is one of the best action films of the modern era. Keanu Reeves is perfect in it, Chad Stahelski nails the direction, and it’s an all-around fun-time that deserves the franchise status it has.

7. Kill Bill (2003)

Logline: After awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.

Last but not least, we have the iconic Quentin Tarantino flick Kill Bill starring Uma Thurman. Just about any Quentin Tarantino film could make this list but many agree that Kill Bill falls under the action umbrella the best. Definitely a much-watch.
