Danny Ocean and his crew could be getting ready for one more job. Nearly two decades after Ocean’s Thirteen brought the original trilogy to a close, talk of Ocean’s Fourteen has gathered serious momentum, with George Clooney confirming that a script is ready and several familiar faces are expected to return. Details are still limited, but with production potentially getting underway in 2026, excitement around another slick, star-studded heist is beginning to build.
George Clooney first teased the idea of a potential new Ocean’s sequel in December 2023, revealing in an interview with Uproxx that they had a “great script!” for another film in the franchise. By October 2025, Clooney said Warner Bros. had approved the budget and that core cast members like Brad Pitt and Matt Damon would return. In George Clooney we trust.
Naturally, almost two decades after the last Ocean’s film, Ocean’s Thirteen, which premiered in 2007, expectations are high. But what do we know so far?
What We Know About Ocean’s Fourteen So Far
Clooney said in the same October 2025 press tease that coordinating the schedules of the very busy cast members was a problem, before telling Variety that production was scouting locations and hoped to shoot in October 2026. Let’s see if that happens. No filming location has been publicly confirmed yet. As for the cast, that’s also under wraps, but Clooney did say that Matt Damon is returning as Linus Caldwell, Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan, Don Cheadle as Basher Tarr, and Julia Roberts as Tess Ocean. The director is also hush-hush, but it has been confirmed that Steven Soderbergh, who directed Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen, isn’t expected to return. David Leitch, director of Bullet Train, entered talks to direct in January 2025, but we’ll have to wait to see who finally takes the director’s chair.
How Will Ocean’s Fourteen Follow on From Ocean’s Thirteen?
Ocean’s Eleven and Thirteen, set amid the bright lights and casinos of the Las Vegas Strip, were two of the most gripping, exciting films ever to hit our screens. It’s going to be hard to match their storylines, which kept you on the edge of your seat throughout. Hopefully, Fourteen will return to Vegas once more, with the city being almost another character in the Ocean films. Casino games such as roulette, craps, and blackjack created that unmistakable Las Vegas setting. You’ll find many of the same casino games available online, luckily without Danny Ocean and his crew planning an elaborate heist in the background! Instead, you get welcome bonuses and live-dealer games for an authentic casino feel.
Though we don’t know much yet, the film is expected to make their age part of the story. We can assume that, based on the end of Thirteen, which felt like a retirement, the story will begin with everyone coming out of retirement for what we can imagine will be the heist of all heists.
Will The Film Live Up to Expectations?
The Ocean’s franchise, which has grossed over $300 million per film (apart from Ocean’s 8, which was just under), is immensely popular. To live up to expectations, especially after almost two decades and likely without the same director, the film will need to capture the essence and thrill of the Ocean’s franchise. But if Fourteen can match the epicness of Ocean’s Eleven, the most popular and highest-grossing film in the franchise, everyone is in for a treat.
Some franchises make the mistake of releasing one film too many. Hopefully, that’s not the case for Ocean’s Fourteen. With filming scheduled to begin imminently, we won’t have to wait long for more information about the upcoming film.
There are still plenty of unanswered questions surrounding Ocean’s Fourteen, from its director and filming locations to exactly what could persuade Danny Ocean and the gang to reunite after all these years. What already makes the project exciting, though, is the prospect of seeing Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Roberts, and other familiar faces back together for another elaborate heist. If the new film can recapture the style, humour, chemistry, and casino-set excitement that made the original trilogy so memorable, Ocean’s Fourteen could prove that this crew still has one great job left in them.
