Hokkaido, a huge island located in the north of Japan. Once this place was called Ezochi, but after the political reform in the late 1800s, its name was changed to Hokkaido. This year marks the 150th year after its name was changed from Ezochi to Hokkaido. I went on a journey along the old roads 150 years back, tracing the historical footprints of the indigenous peoples and the pioneers. Taking this journey through the four seasons, the things I saw were dynamic and filled with variety, it was an image of the great northern land that is genuinely beautiful.
