Weldon J. Irvine, Jr. was a revolutionary composer, mentor of Jazz & Hip hop legends and wrote the lyrics of “To be Young, Gifted and Black” during his tenure as the legendary Nina Simone’s organist and Music Director. Irvine ended his life across the street from Nassau Colliseum at the age of 58. This documentary unearth’s the time capsule of his influence and genius, which has been unheralded – until now. Music is the key.
