“For ‘Above and Below’ I was given permission to quietly observe and film the only current nesting colony of the Magnificent Frigatebird in the continental U.S. As the first Artist in Residence in 2015 on Loggerhead Key a tiny remote island between Florida and Cuba I observed the parallel between forms in nature above and below the water. In this film I have created a visually poetic work expressing my curiosity and wonderment with the natural world of the Dry Tortugas National Park. The work is created as part of an interdisciplinary international collaboration with Australian scientist Peter Dalmazzo. Music is by American composer Ben Cosgrove.” Anna Glynn was the first Artist in Residence selected by the National Parks Arts Foundation and the Dry Tortugas National Park, USA.

Anna’s film featuring the frigate birds in the Dry Tortugas National Park is poetic in its execution. The collaboration of a talented artist, scientist and musician has created a deeply reflective, peaceful experience for the observer.
